What do we think of the web site infrastructure? Let's talk about it here.

We need a space to put readings (PDFs). And a place for students to post comments - or will they be creating and/or adding to Conversations? And where could we put links to external resources?

Notes from December 15 2011 meeting. Next meeting set for January 13 at 11 a.m.
We might find that all items covered in these notes are resolved or revisit ones still unaddressed. Notes from 12/15/11
(KB Katherine Brown, TJP Tammy Powell, BJ Btuce Jones, EP or ET Etienne Relaprat , R Robert Lecusay , IR Ivan Rosero)

IR and ET were working on administrative structure for a lot of existing files (over 100).

For example, the rapidly approaching symposium involving classes beginning in early January by Martin Packer and Mike, questions about how to access media.

User account issues: Beginning with generated from user ids from existing xmca particiation—good starter list. Etienne clarified how user ids are related to xmca list, how being on that subscription list means you are already recognized in this set up, but of course, others can join without being xmca members. (Do I have that right?)

We practiced resetting passwords for ourselves.

So, Conversations, Symposia, Research, Media, XMCA are sections
Etienne explained reputation points, as incentives for community participation. Three kinds of general community functions—voting, tagging community responses.
Elements are votable, taggable commentable.

Discussion of vimeo/URL problem: right format for URLs? Need to add ability to delete (is temporary safeguard to not have delete capability?).

Bruce Jones asked questions RE adding stuff, winter course for mike, distinctions between this site and the course wiki.
For the HDP senior seminar, students will be uploading, commenting, associating, still there is the up or down voting function. Perhaps add more than up and down voting options?
Issues around making it possible for students to not be permanent users but to be able to do stuff, see stuff temporarily and with some boundaries. Working out the kinks in access/control. There will be multiple user groups for this symposium, including undergrads. Needs to be worked out.

Tammy noted:
Previous version--Current Projects, People—“People” became members.
Rob, Katherine, Tammy to be trained to help members?

Someone needs to look into bluehost facilities (Etienne will )
Possible additional members mentioned by group--soon besides Andy and Martin, Ageliiki Nicolopolou, , Honorine Nocon, Beth Ferholt, , Scott Woodbridge and Noah Finkelstein plus more,
To get content creation going.

For January meeting:
Ivan will work on media and searching; Etienne on bluehost and bugs, Mike and Martin getting content ready.
Recommendation (ta’s for cohi class) intro to Chat materials
Robert’s to do: go through/select Chat relevant materials and navigating through site.
Pdfs word, docs video in vimeo format

Next meeting: January 13, 11 a.m.

I've been off the site for several days, which made me think: Could there be a way for members to get a monthly email or something to remind them to check activity on the site or to update them on latest conversations and etc?
